**Apprentice – R&D Fabrication Technician**

**Shift:** 1st shift, Monday – Friday; OT required throughout work week – no weekend shifts

**Description** :

**Fabrication Weld Technician Responsibilities:**

 Participate in automotive car body prototype development

 Assemble and measure weld fixture

 Prepare standard operation procedure

 Fabricate and modify car body and components from design data with various fabrication tools

 Examine and ensure completed work pieces meet design and test specs

 Participate in meetings, projects and activities in support of company and team goals

 Accurately and timely accomplishment of work assigned

 Maintain proficiency in core competencies and ability to learn new skills

 Maintain equipment and keep a clean and safe work area

**Requirements** :

 High School Diploma or GED

 Experience with MIG and TIG welding required

 Experience utilizing basic power tool and hand tool required.

 Experience with fabrication equipment i.e. breaks, shears, and other metal forming tools preferred

 Ability to read blueprints, layout specs, and Bill of Materials (BOM) to determine material requirements and task sequences

 Ability to use calipers, tape measures, and other standard measuring equipment.

 Physical ability to lift and move items weighing up to 50 pounds

 CAD experience preferred but not required

 Basic computer skills i.e. Microsoft Office

 Basic math skills and ability to interpret the metric system

 Ability to work independently with minimal supervision

 Positive manner of performance, team player, proficient written and verbal communications skills

 Good attendance

**Pay and Benefits**

The pay range for this position is $18.00 – $24.00/hr.
