Become a certified Avionics Technician. Our apprentices learn avionics installation and troubleshooting skills working on general aviation airplanes and helicopters. Learn to install Garmin, Avidyne, S-TEC, Appareo avionics. Job placement available after completion of this 12-month program. Accelerated training opportunities for veterans or those with previous aviation electrical or avionics background. Aircraft Electronics Technician (AET) certification upon completion. This apprenticeship also provides opportunities to continue training toward the Airframe and Powerplant Certification if desired.

Responsibilities

Learn and work on aircraft electrical systems and avionics. Install modern avionics in General Aviation aircraft. Troubleshoot avionics/instrument issues and problems. Install modern avionics to include Primary Flight Displays, Navigation systems, flight instruments, autopilot systems, transponders and more. Remove and Install aircraft interiors/components. Install engine probes and sensors required for modern engine monitoring systems.

Skills

Electrical and aircraft systems knowledge. Avionics Installation techniques and procedures. Airframe modifications. Wiring of aircraft systems to include soldering, wire crimping/pinning. Understanding wire diagrams and manuals. Troubleshooting avionics and researching manuals. Working directly with staff and customers on avionics questions and answers.

Qualifications

High School Diploma. Proficiency in reading and understanding complex manuals and instructions (pre-screening test required). Drug and Alcohol screening and random testing required. For proficiency advancement of veterans, military training records showing completion of training in similar skillsets.
