Provides beauty services to customers, analyzes hair condition. Applies bleach, dye, or tint, using applicator or brush to customers. Shampoos hair and scalp and rinse. Massages scalp and applies conditioners as required. Styles hair by blowing, cutting, trimming, and tapering, using clippers, scissors, razors and blow wave gun. Suggests hair styles to patrons based on physical features of patron, current styles or instruction from the patron. Sets Hair by blow-dry, natural-set, chemical set, pressing iron, or comb. Suggests cosmetics, and skin treatment options. Performs other beauty services, face massages, eyebrows, removing unwanted hair and straightening or curling hair. Cleans shapes and polishes fingernails and toenails.

Qualifications

Age: Minimum qualifications required by the sponsor for persons entering the apprenticeship program, with and eligible starting age not less than 16 years.
Education: A high school diploma, General Educational Development equivalency or other high school equivalency is required. Applicant must provide and official transcript(s) for high school and any post-high school education. Applicant must submit the GED certificate or other high school equivalency credential if applicable.
Physical: Applicants will be physically capable of performing the essential functions of the apprenticeship program, with or without reasonable accommodation, and without posing a direct threat to the health and safety of the individual or others.
