Job Summary Installer I is an entry-level flooring installer with basic knowledge of construction and flooring installation. This role is a step above a helper but not yet ready to work independently . Installer I is expected to: Assist in LVT, sheet vinyl, tile, and carpet installations under supervision. Develop precision, speed, and efficiency in flooring installation techniques. Learn proper subfloor prep, measuring, cutting, and material handling. Work closely with senior installers and team leaders to build technical expertise. Maintain professionalism, safety, and work ethic on job sites. Key Responsibilities 1. Flooring Installation Support Assist in installing LVT, sheet vinyl, carpet, and tile under direct supervision. Measure, cut, and fit materials with increasing accuracy over time. Learn how to heat weld and flash cove sheet vinyl under supervision. Follow instructions from senior installers to ensure quality and efficiency. 2. Subfloor Preparation & Site Readiness Help with subfloor cleaning, leveling, and moisture testing as directed. Assist in removing old flooring, adhesives, and debris before installation. Learn proper floor patching and prep techniques. 3. Tool & Material Handling Set up and maintain all tools and equipment needed for installations. Handle, transport, and store flooring materials properly to prevent damage. Keep work areas clean, organized, and safe at all times. 4. Training & Skill Development Actively participate in on-the-job training and company-provided learning. Ask questions, take notes, and apply new skills daily to improve. Learn how to read blueprints, job specs, and layout plans. Progress toward working more independently with a goal of becoming an Installer II. 5. Professionalism & Job-Site Conduct Arrive on time and ready to work —showing reliability and commitment. Follow all safety regulations and proper worksite procedures. Represent Masters Petersens Flooring professionally at all times. Communicate respectfully and work as part of a team. Qualifications Basic construction or flooring experience Understanding of hand and power tools (experience using tape measure, knives, and drills). Ability to lift 50+ lbs, bend, kneel, and stand for long periods. Willingness to learn, take instruction, and improve skills. Strong work ethic, reliability, and professionalism. Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation. Performance Expectations & Growth Path This role is for those serious about learning and advancing.
