Summary
Job Summary Pharmacy Technician Apprentice is in the Harris Health School of Pharmacy Technician Advancement Apprenticeship Program. The apprentice will apply the knowledge and skills from the didactic and simulation activities to prepare and dispense prescribed medications under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist while ensuring excellence in patient care, patient safety, and patient satisfaction. The apprentice must adhere to all state, federal, organizational, and departmental regulations and guidelines, in addition to the policies and procedures of the School of Pharmacy Technician Advancement (SPTA). This is a 6-month apprenticeship program. Minimum Qualifications Degrees/Work Experience/School Education: – HS Diploma / GED: Currently enrolled in the Pharmacy Technician Education & Training Program. Licenses & Certifications: – Pharmacy Technician Trainee: (Texas State Board of Pharmacy (TSBP)) Must obtain pharmacy technician trainee registration within ninety (90) days of employment and maintain in active status. Work Experience: – No Experience: Must be accepted and enrolled into the School of Pharmacy Technician Advancement (SPTA) – One (1) Year of Experience with Teamwork & customer service (Preferred) Communication Skills: – Above average Verbal Communication (Heavy Public Contact) – Writing/Correspondence Proficiencies: – MS Word – MS PowerPoint Knowledge/ Skills/ Abilities: – Mathematics: & interpersonal competence – Math Skills Proficiency: Math proficiency sufficient to fulfill the requirements of pharmacy technician job responsibilities. Assessment will be scheduled after application to apprenticeship is received Work Schedule: – Weekends – Holidays – Flexible: Flexible education and training schedule – Travel: Willing to drive to various ACS and inpatient pharmacies for training. Other Special Requirements Other Requirements: – Attend, participate, and submit all assignments. – Complete ACS and Inpatient Pharmacy Training – Take the national pharmacy technician certification board exam within the program. Evening Shift: Inpatient Pharmacy Training requires evening shifts (for 1-2 weeks)
