Trillium Construction is now hiring in Owens Burrow, KY. Our client provides general and custom design and fabrication services for architectural, industrial, and commercial products. They specialize in miscellaneous steel and they are now hiring for a Shop Manager in Owens Burrow, KY. This is a direct hire opportunity with a salary of up to $110k plus benefits like medical insurance that is 100% covered for employees. Scheduling & Operations -Take part in job kick-off meetings in order to: -Understand job specifications and clarify any questions -Identify and address any design information gaps -Define overall job timelines and daily production goals Manage shop job portfolio -What projects are currently in the shop (3-week window) -What projects are in the long-term plan (4 weeks to 3 months) -What space and/or manpower is needed to produce to the timeline -Highlight manpower issues or future lulls in production -Are there timing conflicts due to equipment usage across projects? -Tracking actual labor hours versus hours in the job estimate -Conduct morning team meetings Build and maintain shop schedule -3-week “current jobs” schedule -Long-term (4-12 week) job schedule -Understand the committed projects on our backlog and when they will come into the shop -Work with estimator to map out the project milestones and deadlines and track them until the job moves onto the current jobs schedule Manage labor hours & efficiency -Approve submitted time sheets from shop workers Complete End of Day (EOD) report for each shift that shows the hours spent on each job and how many parts were produced each day for each job and process step -Take proactive action to improve efficiency and minimize instances of going over the job budget for labor hours -Schedule customer pickups or finished goods deliveries -Ensuring that parts are numbered according to drawings for proper field installation -Kitting the job so that the delivery is complete with all parts needed -Work with Admin in the office to create packing slips for each delivery sent from the shop Inventory Management -Check incoming raw material and parts against the bill of lading and for any damage or quality issues -Maintain adequate supply of shop supplies and consumables -Keep storage areas organized -Determine what metal should be kept as inventory versus getting scrapped Administration -Daily productivity reports -Lead production scheduling meetings and update production schedules -Keep track of job folders and make sure they are kept complete and in good shape as they move through the shop -Maintain job board in the shop -Responsible for keeping track of call offs, write ups, and employee evaluations Safety -Inspect & maintain safety equipment such as fire extinguishers -Understand OSHA regulations and make sure the shop is compliant -Keep working area reasonably clean and clear of debris or obstructions -Own the lock-out-tag-out program and practices Quality -Help Quality Lead to check layouts and tack ups -Train new hires and apprentices -Work with Quality Lead to: -Enforce SOPs and develop new SOPs when needed -Communicate best practices -Drive continuous improvement in the shop -Track costs associated with quality failures (Cost of Poor Quality – COPQ) -Hold team accountable for meeting quality standards and driving the COPQ to zero Facilities & Equipment -Oversee vehicle, building, and equipment maintenance -Determine when outside services need to be engaged and then hire & manage those services -Be part of the project team for any projects associated with expansions, adding new equipment, design ing better work and material flows, etc. Apply now! -Previous experience Trillium has been recruiting and placing professionals for over 30 years.
