About the Program: Intermountain Health has partnered with Salt Lake CommunityCollege’s (SLCC) Surgical Technology program to create anapprenticeship program that tightens connections between trainingand the workplace. Intermountain Health will sponsor up to 9 apprentices for thefall 2025 class. The program will require full-time attendance as a student atSLCC’s Surgical Technology Program in West Jordan, Utah andrequires routine check-ins with a supervisor from IntermountainHealth. During the school year, apprentices will work at our hospitalssurgical services areas for short shifts (before classes) toobserve and learn key on-the-job skills that support surgery. SLCCSurgical Technologist Program Requirements: Candidate must apply and meet all SLCC College requirements tobe accepted into their Employer sponsored surgical technologyprogram (Steps to Apply # 1- 4 below). All prerequisites must be completed at the time ofapplication. SLCC application submission deadlines are as follows: January 15 – May 15, 2025 (Priority review forapplicants). If position’s haven’t been filled by the priority reviewdeadline, a secondary deadline will be opened from June 1 – August1, 2025. Job Essentials: Attends intermountain health and apprenticeship programorientations and completes all required paperwork and documentationbefore a starting apprenticeship. Completes all mandatory training as assigned. Maintains good performance and attendance with IntermountainHealth and SLCC. Ensures the operating room and surgical items meet disinfectionand sterilization criteria. Maintains sterile field and safe environment. Under the direction of a preceptor, the apprentice prepares theoperating room and instruments for surgical procedures. Assists the surgical team during the procedure within theirscope of practice. After the procedure, cleans room and prepares for the nextprocedure in compliance with the established protocol. Demonstrates ability to consistently maintain a good rapportand positive demeanor with colleagues and customers.
