Tool and Die Apprentice personnel assist production through maintenance of tooling and dies and customer requests for Maintenance/Repair. Related Technical Instruction will be required during non working hours. Apprentice will be expected to rotate across shifts during term of apprenticeship.

Responsibilities

  • Welding
  • Machining, using die room equipment
  • Assisting on set-ups
  • Assisting on first piece approvals
  • Performing routine maintenance on dies and die room equipment
  • Recording maintenance data on daily log sheets
  • Assisting on press line changes
  • Interchanging tooling components
  • Repairing Tooling or making new details
  • Paralleling for proper set-ups
  • Scaling draw punches
  • Removing irregularities from dies
  • Polishing dies
  • Adjusting dies and tooling to meet customer specifications
  • Troubleshooting
  • Travel to customers to review tooling
  • In-house part examinations
  • Travel to suppliers to pick-up parts
  • Heat Treat of various metals
  • Support and administer the Company Safety Program
  • Other duties as assigned or required

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent with vocational school training a plus   
  • Ability to troubleshoot
  • Knowledge of die repair
  • Ability to lift up to 40 pounds unassisted
  • Ability to bend at the knees and hips
  • Ability to work on dies in the presses
  • Ability to use precision layout and checking tools
  • Ability to read blueprints
  • Knowledge of presses
  • Performing repetitive motions with hands and arms
