Tool and Die Apprentice personnel assist production through maintenance of tooling and dies and customer requests for Maintenance/Repair. Related Technical Instruction will be required during non working hours. Apprentice will be expected to rotate across shifts during term of apprenticeship.
Responsibilities
- Welding
- Machining, using die room equipment
- Assisting on set-ups
- Assisting on first piece approvals
- Performing routine maintenance on dies and die room equipment
- Recording maintenance data on daily log sheets
- Assisting on press line changes
- Interchanging tooling components
- Repairing Tooling or making new details
- Paralleling for proper set-ups
- Scaling draw punches
- Removing irregularities from dies
- Polishing dies
- Adjusting dies and tooling to meet customer specifications
- Troubleshooting
- Travel to customers to review tooling
- In-house part examinations
- Travel to suppliers to pick-up parts
- Heat Treat of various metals
- Support and administer the Company Safety Program
- Other duties as assigned or required

Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent with vocational school training a plus
- Ability to troubleshoot
- Knowledge of die repair
- Ability to lift up to 40 pounds unassisted
- Ability to bend at the knees and hips
- Ability to work on dies in the presses
- Ability to use precision layout and checking tools
- Ability to read blueprints
- Knowledge of presses
- Performing repetitive motions with hands and arms
