E&E Construction is seeking a detail-oriented Underground Utility Locator to join our team.

The ideal candidate will be responsible for identifying, marking, and documenting the locations

of underground utilities, including fiber optic cables, water, gas, and electric lines. This role is

critical to ensuring safety and efficiency in excavation and construction projects.

Responsibilities

  • Utilize locating equipment to identify underground utilities, including

    telecommunications cables, gas lines, water pipes, and electrical conduits.

  • Mark utility locations using spray paint, flags, or other indicators per project

    requirements.

  • Read and interpret utility maps, blueprints, and GIS data to ensure accurate locates.

  • Perform pre-job inspections and surveys of construction sites to identify potential conflicts or hazards.

  • Document all locating activities, including work performed, field conditions, and as-built

    records.

  • Respond promptly to emergency locate requests, ensuring compliance with applicable regulations.

  • Collaborate with excavation crews, contractors, and supervisors to ensure safety and prevent utility damage.

  • Maintain and troubleshoot locating equipment to ensure accurate operation.

  • Adhere to all safety protocols, industry standards, and local regulations.

Skills

Technical Skills:

  • Proficiency with utility locating equipment (e.g., Subsite, Vivax-Metrotech, or Radio

    detection).

  • Ability to interpret utility maps, prints, and GIS data.

  • Strong understanding of utility markings and industry color codes.

Qualifications

  • Certified Locator Technician (preferred).

  • OSHA 10/30 Certification (preferred).

Eligibility to Work Requirements

  • Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.

  • Comfortable walking long distances, bending, and lifting equipment up to 50 lbs.

  • Willingness to travel to job sites and work flexible hours, including weekends and

    evenings, as needed.

  • Strong attention to detail, communication skills, and a safety-first mindset.
