Utility Groundworker Apprentice CITY OF ANADARKO 501 W Virginia Ave, Anadarko, OK 73005 Position Overview: The City of Anadarko is currently accepting application for a dedicated and hardworking Electric Groundworker to join our team. This paid apprenticeship is a structured training opportunity designed to provide the skills, knowledge and experience necessary to become a Utility Lineworker. This position combines hands on field training with formal classroom instruction in electrical theory, safety procedures and utility operations in accordance with a certified apprenticeship program. The successful candidate will assist in the construction, maintenance, and repair of electrical distribution and transmission systems. This role is essential for ensuring the safety and efficiency of our operations. Key Responsibilities: Site Preparation: Prepare sites for power line construction and maintenance, including digging holes and setting up poles. Assisting Lineworkers: Support lineworkers by clearing obstructions, handing tools, and operating equipment. Safety and Maintenance: Maintain a safe work environment, perform routine maintenance on tools and equipment. Operating Machinery: Use hand tools, power tools, and machinery such as chainsaws, pruners, and brush chippers. Electrical Work: Assist in the construction and repair of underground and overhead electrical distribution systems. Communication: Notify clients of power or service interruptions and ensure clear communication with the team. Minimum Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent. Valid OK driver’s license and possess or be able to obtain a valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) within 12 months of hire. Must enroll and complete courses in the MESO Lineworker Apprentice Program and MESO Basic Lineworker School. Strong commitment to safety, teamwork, and continuous learning. Ability to work at heights, in confined spaces, and in adverse weather conditions. Physical strength and stamina. Good mechanical skills and attention to detail.
