Job Description
Aircraft Technology, Inc., (ATI), a subsidiary of HEICO Corporation, is an FAA/EASA Part 145 Repair Station. ATI supports a wide range of rotary and fixed wing components found on both commercial and military platforms around the world.
A Bench Mechanic is responsible for assembling, repairing, and maintaining mechanical components or systems in a workshop setting. Unlike field mechanics, bench mechanics typically focus on specific parts or subsystems that are removed from the engine (such as an aircraft, or industrial equipment) and are worked on at a workbench.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Perform detailed inspections on aircraft parts.
Use precision measuring tools and equipment (e.g., micrometers, calipers) to ensure components meet aerospace standards.
Assemble or disassemble aircraft parts following blueprints, diagrams, or technical manuals.
Identify faulty components and replace or repair parts, including machining, grinding, or fabricating replacements if necessary.
Perform welding, riveting, and other metalworking operations as needed.
Calibrate and align systems to meet manufacturer and safety specifications.
Maintain accurate records of repairs, inspections, and component replacement, ensuring compliance with aerospace regulations (such as FAA requirements).
Work closely with aerospace engineers, quality control inspectors, and supervisors to troubleshoot complex problems.
Provide feedback to improve repair procedures and increase the efficiency of maintenance tasks.
Perform regular maintenance on tools and equipment to ensure accuracy and proper functioning.
Clean and condition parts, including degreasing, polishing, and chemical treatment to prepare them for reassembly and safe use.
Performs other related duties as required.
Requirements
EDUCATION:
High school diploma or GED equivalent from an accredited school required.
Apprenticeship and/or formal training in the area of specialty preferred.
EXPERIENCE:
At least 2 years of experience in the field or in a related area.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS OR ABILITIES:
Language: English. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to communicate orally and in writing.
Mathematical Skills: Ability to use basic shop math.
Reasoning Abilities: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Ability to use equipment and tools properly and safely.
Technical Abilities: Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field. Relies on limited experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. A certain degree of creativity and latitude is required.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
While performing the duties of this job, the Team Member is regularly required to stand, walk, bend, squat, use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms, and talk or hear. The Team Member must occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
