Job DescriptionJob Description The Mechanical Foreman is responsible for supervising and coordinating the daily execution of mechanical construction activities on energy projects. This role ensures that piping, pressure vessels, rotating equipment, HVAC systems, pile driving, racking, and module installations are completed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with project specifications and industry standards. The Mechanical Foreman leads a team of skilled workers, enforces safety protocols, ensures quality control, and supports the Mechanical General Foreman and Mechanical Superintendent in delivering projects in power plants, oil & gas facilities, solar and wind farms, substations, and transmission & distribution infrastructure. Key Responsibilities 1. Mechanical Installation & Supervision Oversee and direct the installation of piping systems, pressure vessels, pumps, valves, compressors, turbines, HVAC systems, and rotating equipment. Supervise pile driving, racking system assembly, and module installations in solar and wind energy projects. Ensure proper alignment, leveling, and bolting of mechanical components according to design specifications. Oversee welding operations, including structural welding, pipe welding, and mechanical joint fabrication. Monitor the assembly and installation of mechanical supports, hangers, brackets, and structural steel. Coordinate with electrical and civil teams to align mechanical work with the overall project schedule. 2. Safety & Compliance Enforce OSHA, ASME (American Society of Mechanical Engineers), API (American Petroleum Institute), and NFPA safety regulations. Conduct daily safety briefings, toolbox talks, and job hazard analyses (JHAs). Ensure compliance with Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), confined space entry, and heavy lifting procedures. Monitor the safe operation of cranes, hoists, welding machines, hydraulic tools, and pressure testing equipment. Investigate and report mechanical-related safety incidents or near misses. 3. Crew & Workforce Management Supervise and lead a team of pipefitters, welders, millwrights, riggers, HVAC technicians, pile driving crews, and mechanical subcontractors. Assign tasks to workers based on project priorities, schedules, and mechanical system requirements. Train and mentor skilled workers and apprentices in mechanical installation techniques and safety procedures. Monitor crew productivity and ensure adherence to project goals and quality standards. 4. Equipment & Material Coordination Oversee the operation and maintenance of pile driving rigs, torque wrenches, welding machines, hydraulic lifts, and rigging equipment. Ensure proper handling, storage, and installation of mechanical components, including pipes, fittings, HVAC units, racking materials, and rotating equipment parts. Track and manage inventory of mechanical materials and tools to prevent shortages and delays. Coordinate with the procurement team to ensure timely delivery of required materials. 5. Quality Control & Inspections Conduct onsite inspections of mechanical installations to ensure compliance with engineering drawings and project specifications. Work with QA/QC teams to oversee hydrostatic pressure testing, torque verification, and system commissioning. Ensure that all mechanical components meet industry standards for structural integrity, performance, and durability. Address and resolve punch list items, rework issues, and alignment defects before project handover. 6. Scheduling & Coordination Work closely with the Mechanical General Foreman and Superintendent to maintain project schedules. Monitor work progress and adjust crew assignments, workflows, and schedules as needed. Identify and report installation challenges, material shortages, or equipment failures to leadership for resolution. 7. Communication & Reporting Provide daily progress reports to the Mechanical General Foreman and Project Manager. Document completed tasks, workforce hours, equipment usage, and material consumption for reporting and payroll. Communicate technical challenges, field modifications, and design conflicts with engineers and supervisors. Participate in project coordination meetings to discuss upcoming work and safety concerns. Required Skills & Qualifications Experience: 5+ years in mechanical construction, with experience in energy sector projects (renewables, power , oil & gas, transmission & distribution). Education: High school diploma or equivalent (trade certifications or technical training ). Certifications: o OSHA 30 (mandatory). o API 510/570/653 (for oil & gas projects). o First Aid/CPR Certification. o Rigging & Heavy Equipment Safety Certifications.
