We are seeking a skilled Fiber Optic Splicer to join our telecommunications construction team.
The ideal candidate will have proven expertise in splicing and testing fiber optic cables for high-
speed internet, voice, and data networks. This position requires exceptional attention to detail,
proficiency with fiber optic tools, and a strong commitment to safety and quality standards.
Responsibilities

Perform splicing and testing of fiber optic cables in both outdoor and indoor settings.

Read and interpret network diagrams, blueprints, and splicing schematics.

Conduct fusion and mechanical splicing of single-mode and multi-mode fibers.

Install enclosures, patch panels, and other fiber optic equipment.

Troubleshoot and repair fiber issues using tools such as OTDR, power meters, and fiber
scopes.

Perform fiber optic testing to ensure continuity, signal integrity, and performance.

Work on aerial and underground fiber optic installations, including cable pulling an
terminations.

Document splicing activities, test results, and as-built changes for project completion
records.

Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and other technicians to meet deadlines.

Adhere to safety protocols and industry standards during all splicing operations.
Skills
-
Proficiency with fiber optic testing equipment (e.g., OTDR, light source, power meters).

Strong understanding of single-mode and multi-mode fiber optic technologies.

Familiarity with industry standards (e.g., ITU, IEEE, TIA/EIA).
Qualifications

Minimum 2–3 years of hands-on experience in fiber optic splicing.

Expertise with fusion splicing machines (e.g., Fujikura, Sumitomo, or similar).
Security Clearance Requirements

Certified Fiber Optic Technician (CFOT) or equivalent certification.

OSHA Certification.

CDL Class A License (for fieldwork involving vehicle operations).
Eligibility to Work Requirements

Comfortable working in confined spaces, at heights, or in outdoor environments.

Ability to lift and carry equipment weighing up to 50 lbs.

Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently or as part of a team.
