We offer competitive wages and an excellent benefit package. Apprentice Lineman I-V Easton Utilities is currently seeking an Apprentice Lineman I-V for the Electric Department. HIRING RANGE: $23/hr. to $38/hr. depending upon experience. JOB OBJECTIVE: Install, maintain, and repair overhead and underground cables and equipment required for the electric distribution system. This is a full-time, non-exempt position with on-call and overtime requirements. JOB REQUIREMENTS: Must possess the aptitude and attitude to safely learn the operation of underground and overhead electric distribution systems, cable handling and splicing, and read and understand engineering drawings and maps. Must be able to learn to operate derrick and bucket trucks, trenchers and associated tools and equipment. Must also possess a high level of situational awareness. Must successfully complete the North West Lineman College Online Apprentice Lineman program within five years of hire date. Must have a valid Maryland Class A Restricted CDL driver’s license or the ability to obtain one within twelve months. Must live within 15 miles of 219 N. Washington Street. EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS: Must have high school diploma or equivalent. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Must be able to pass DOT physical. Capable of physical work that includes climbing utility poles and working in open trenches with tools and equipment while being exposed to hazardous conditions and extreme noise and weather. Must wear proper PPE at all times. MAJOR JOB FUNCTIONS: Under direct supervision perform dead line and live line overhead line work. Under direct supervision install underground line and repair primary circuits. Under direct supervision perform overhead line work on secondary circuits. Under direct supervision install underground line on secondary circuits. Under direct supervision troubleshoot, locate and repair problems on primary and secondary circuits. Under direct supervision install and maintain streetlights. Must be able to read and comprehend material and equipment manufacturer’s instructions, engineering drawings and distribution system maps. Maintain reasonable availability to come in and work when needed to repair the distribution system. Enhance the Electric Department’s service and productivity by providing support to other employees, filling in and completing other tasks as requested by your direct supervisor or the Electric Department Manager. Regular, reliable attendance is a requirement of this job. For placement at Apprentice Lineman II: Minimum one year as Apprentice I, CDL Class B or Higher. For Placement at Apprentice Lineman III: One year minimum experience Apprentice II, CDL Class A, Completion of NWLC Module 1. Must complete annual pole top rescue and bucket truck rescue. For placement at Apprentice Lineman IV: One year minimum experience Apprentice III, Completion of NWLC Module 2. Must complete annual pole top rescue and bucket truck rescue. For placement at Apprentice Lineman V: Completion of all Northwest Lineman College Curriculum. Satisfactory history with and company HIS training, Minimum One year in Grade IV.
