Our Machinist Apprentice program is a combination of classroom training at the Grand Rapids Community College Applied Technology Center along with working alongside a skilled Machinist.
Will attend school at the Grand Rapids Community College Advanced Technology center every Friday from 7am-3:30pm. (Next class starts fall of 2025, however, will start working immediately)
After completing 728 hours of classroom time will obtain certificate in Machine Tool & Technology.
Once completed 8,000 hours of on-the-job training will obtain Department of Labor Machinist Journeyman's card with 27 articulated credits towards an associate degree in manufacturing.
If individuals would like to continue their college education 100% paid up front educational assistance.
Machinist Apprentice will be responsible for setting up and running equipment to produce parts that meet precise specifications for the automotive, medical, electrical industry.
Responsibilities
Machinist Apprentice Responsibilities:

Operate manual and automated machine tools to produce precision parts and instruments.

Maintain and repair machine tools and equipment.

Read blueprints, schematics, diagrams, or technical orders to determine the specific operation to be performed.

Measure dimensions of finished work pieces to ensure conformance to specifications, using precision measuring instruments.

Set up and adjust machines, such as lathes, milling machines, shapers, and grinders.
