The Job: This is an entry level position where an individual will have a chance to learn all about building and servicing garages throughout the Chicagoland area. This individual will work in the field under direct supervision. They will get exposure to many various construction trades, such as carpentry, concrete, and electrical work. Key Responsibilities: Learn how to complete inspections of residential garage construction projects to ensure that the quality of work meets company and customer standards. Learn how to ensure that all construction adheres to and is compliant with municipal, state and federal building code requirements. Troubleshoot projects and assist contractors with jobsite logistics. Gain a strong understanding of the installation and servicing of Overhead Garage Doors. Cut lumber and related materials necessary to build garages. Assemble and build garages based on homeowners’ specifications. Interact with local building departments, including inspectors, to obtain building permits and coordinate inspections. Clearly and accurately document any specific information pertaining to individual construction projects into the company database. Learn how to identify recurring issues in the field and assist management in training and educating staff on client-specific regulations, policies and procedures. Address, acknowledge and resolve any issues brought forth by homeowners. Learn how to resolve service requests from homeowners. Office work as assigned. Take municipal contractor examinations as applicable. This position will require candidates to get on to roofs and lift 50+ lbs regularly to fulfill the obligations of the role. The Person: We are looking for someone who enjoys working with their hands and would consider themselves handy. This individual would be a go-getter and would be comfortable working outside with power tools. This individual would be driven as well as reliable. This individual would also be looking for a career. Prior construction experience is a plus, but not required. Having transportation to drive to job sites and valid Driver’s license is required.
