**Overview**
The Assistant Chief Engineer supports the Chief Engineer in managing operational systems, supervising staff, and ensuring compliance with all procedures and safety standards.
**Pay:** $81.38/hour

Key Responsibilities:
1. Supervise and direct Stationary Engineers, Apprentice Engineers, and Utility Engineers.
2. Operate, maintain, and repair the following systems:
o Boilers, heaters, and pumps, including valves and appurtenances for steam and heated water systems (Duty 1).
o Refrigeration equipment such as compressors, condensers, evaporators, and expansion valves; ensure refrigerant compliance (Duty 2).
o Pumps and valves for handling secondary refrigerating liquids, including brine systems (Duty 3).
o Air compressors, dryers, and filtration systems, along with associated air control devices (Duty 4).
o Natural gas distribution systems, including valves for regulation and control (Duty 5).
o Water filters, softeners, and sanitary systems, including sinks, toilets, and sprinkler systems (Duties 6 and 13).
o Electrical motors and engines, including drivers like VFDs for pumps and fans (Duties 7-9).
o Building automation systems for HVAC, lighting, and control (Duty 12).
3. Implement preventive maintenance for all systems to ensure reliability and compliance (Duty 1).
4. Maintain compactors and kitchen equipment (excluding tenant-owned) (Duties 14-15).
5. Oversee testing and maintenance of life safety systems, including fire alarms and emergency equipment (Duty 16).
6. Manage inventory control for maintenance parts and materials (Duty 17).
7. Ensure cleanliness and appearance of equipment rooms (Duty 18).
8. Conduct performance evaluations and ensure staff training per Local 39 requirements.
9. Attend and successfully complete Local 39’s Supervision Training Course within 12 months of promotion.
Qualifications:
· EPA 608 Certified to handle refrigerants.
· Membership in Union Local 39 and skilled in tasks aligned with Duties 1-18.
· Leadership ability and experience in team coordination.
